Appena rientrato dai saloni del vino naturale ad Angers e Saumur (31 Gen – 01 Feb) sono ancora felicemente confuso dalla quantità di vini e persone incontrate: 3 saloni piuttosto grandi ed uno più piccolino, decine di vini assaggiati dai quattro angoli del pianeta.
Insomma…l’unica cosa che mi viene da dire è: BRUTAL.
BRUTAL tutto! Gente BRUTAL, vini BRUTAL, saloni BRUTAL.
Io stesso mi sento assolutamente BRUTAL.
Potrei dilungarmi in lunghe descrizioni di domaines assaggiati, ma rimaniamo su questa che è una delle grandi novità del momento.
La storia dovrebbe essere questa. Qualche tempo fa alcuni vignerons (i catalani

con i languedociens Anthony Tortul di La Sorga e
Remi Poujol) si chiudono in cantina ad assaggiare e commentare i propri vini. Fino a tarda notte.
Ad un certo punto assaggiando una certa cuvée Joan esclama: ‘BRUTAL! Este vino es BRUTAL.’
Ascoltando la storia da Joan Ramon chiedo: ‘Claro, Joan. Ma que significa BRUTAL?’

In definitiva era nata questa nuova tipologia di vino.
Il vino BRUTAL deve essere un vino frutto di un esperimento.
Un vino fatto nello spirito della passione e della voglia di divertirsi facendo vino. Con un pizzico di umorismo, ça va sans dire.
Chiunque può fare il BRUTAL.
Questa la conclusione di Joan Ramon.

Questo è il vino del momento! La grande novità, il vero souvenir che mi sono portato a casa dopo tre giorni di degustazioni ai 1000km/h.
Ne ho assaggiati diversi, tutti con una storia, una annata, dei cépages ed un Terroir particolare da raccontare.
I vignerons a Les Anonymes o a La Dive ti fanno assaggiare i loro vini, Vin de France, AOC, campioni dalla botte, ed alla fine: ‘On termine avec le BRUTAL’.
L’etichetta è la stessa per tutti, in contro-etichetta il nome del vigneron.
Controetichetta BRUTAL La Sorga.

Senza saperlo hanno creato un vino nuovo! Fuori dalle logiche commerciali e da lobby di interesse. Fuori dagli organi di controllo statali ed europei. Fuori dagli schemi!!!
Questo vino è nato al Sud ed è (per il momento) principalmente prodotto da vignerons catalani e languedociens.
È un vino nato sul mediterraneo.
Sono contento che il BRUTAL fosse ben presente nei saloni del profondo nord in mezzo alle più famose ed importanti AOC francesi.
Questo è lo spirito che anima questo ambiente, giovane, dinamico, artigiano, sperimentatore e ricercatore con come ultimo fine quello della qualità per un grande vino!
Chiudo con un piccolo slogan che circolava lunedì nei sotterranei delle Caves Ackerman di Saumur:
‘Live and let Di(v)e!’

Just got back from natural wine tastings in Angers and Saumur (Jan 30th – Feb 1st): still confused because of the many wines and people I’ve met there. 3 quite big tastings, and a much smaller one. Dozens of tasted wines from all over the planet.
The only idea that I’ve got in mind right now is: BRUTAL.
Everything is BRUTAL! BRUTAL people, BRUTAL wines, BRUTAL tastings.
I definitely feel BRUTAL myself.
I could keep writing about a long list of tasted wines, but I’ll stay here on what I think is one of the great news and latest products of the moment.

) are tasting in the winery their own wines, different cuvées. Till late night.Suddenly, tasting a particular cuvée Joan says: ‘BRUTAL! Este vino es BRUTAL.’
Listening the whole story from Joan himself, I ask him: ‘Claro, Joan. Ma que significa BRUTAL?’ (What do you mean when you say BRUTAL?)
Joan: ‘BRUTAL es BRUTAL. En todos los idiomas, francés, ingles, castellano! En castellano brutal es fantastico!’ (BRUTAL is BRUTAL. In every language, French, English, Spanish! In Spanish BRUTAL means awesome, great!)
A new wine typology was just born. BRUTAL wine must be an experimental wine. Something made with true passion for wine making. With just a hint of humor, ça va sans dire.
Anyone can make a BRUTAL wine. That was Joan’s conclusion.

I tried several BRUTAL, all of them witnessing a different history, vintage, cépages and Terroir.
Vignerons at Les Anonymes or at La Dive pour their wines, Vin de France, AOC, samples from the barrel, and at the end: ‘The last one is our BRUTAL’.
They all use the same label, on the back label you can reed the vigneron and the winery’s name.

I definitely appreciate this small wineries spirit of sharing the emotions of their own work.
Unconsciously they have created a new wine from nothing! Miles away from the correct commercial rules and lobbies of power. Miles away from local and European wine legislation. BRUTAL is totally unconventional, this wine brakes the rules!!!
The idea was conceived in the south and it is, at the moment, mostly made by Catalans and Languedociens vignerons.
This wine is born in the Mediterranean.
I’m pleased that it was well represented in the deep north wine tastings among the most important French AOC.
This is the spirit that drives and moves this whole environment: young, dynamic, artisan, researcher with the only goal of a great wine!
In the end a cool slogan you could hear Monday Feb 1st evening in the underground Caves Ackerman in Saumur:
‘Live and let Di(v)e!’
